Although this is not one of Mad Jack's follies, its spire was the shape that inspired Mad Jack to build the Sugar Loaf.
As you can see St Giles church is unusual as it has a stone steeple, unlike most of the other churches in the area. This stone steeple is the reason that Mad Jack built the Sugar Loaf, to win a bet that he could see the church spire from Rose Hill, his mansion on the estate.
Obviously he couldn't so the Sugar Loaf was constructed to create a fake spire on the horizon so he could win the bet.
